“Lithuania continues rendering assistance to Ukraine and will do so further: we will donate winter clothing and cold-weather equipment, we will assign funds for material assistance next year, also, M113-mounted 120mm mortars, armored vehicles, thermal vision devises, drones, and other equipment,” said Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas after the U.S.-led Ramstein format meeting in Brussels on October 12. The format pulls together Ministers of Defence and representatives of the militaries of the countries providing military assistance to Ukraine.
A. Anušauskas thanked U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for the leadership in maintaining the tempo of assistance to Ukraine and underscored that the effective Ukraine’s recapture of territory proved how critical the military assistance was.
The terrorist missile attack Russia has conducted against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure must be an encouragement to keep the pace of the assistance,
said Minister of National Defence A. Anušauskas.
He also stressed that the bilaterally arranged training to Ukrainians will continue: up to 400 subject-matter specialists will be ready by Christmas. Minister underscored that Lithuania would contribute instructors to all international and multilateral training initiatives.
Last week a group of 12 Lithuanian military instructors joined the efforts to conduct basic military training courses for the Ukrainians in the United Kingdom. The Lithuanians are delivering theory and practice exercises to enhance battlefield survivability and efficiency. Approx. 200 Ukrainian troops will be trained within a months.
The military assistance Lithuania has provided to Ukraine so far comprises the Stinger air defence systems, anti-armor weaponry, tactical vets and helmets, 120 mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermal imaging equipment, drones, anti-drone equipment, surveillance radars, M113 armored personnel carriers, trucks, ATVs, and other aid matched to the requirement Ukraine puts forward.
