Defence Policy Director of the Ministry of National Defence Vaidotas Urbelis took part in the Shangri-La Dialgoue Sherpa Meeting 2025 in Singapore this week. The international security forum for sharing views of latest security challenges took place in the run-up for the global Ministers of Defence meeting in early summer.
V. Urbelis met bilaterally with Lithuania’s key partners in the region: Japan, South Korea, U.S.A., Singapore, Australia and the Philippines. V. Urbelis presented Lithuania’s efforts contributing to a stronger stability in the Indo-Pacific and invited to step up cooperation in the face of increasing threats from Russia and China.
V. Urbelis also underscored the interest of the Ministry of National Defence and Lithuania in promoting defence industry cooperation and invited companies of the region to take part in the Baltic Miltech Summit 2025 in Vilnius this May.
“The exports of our defence industry to countries in the Indo-Pacific is growing and we wish to develop this cooperation further,” said V. Urbelis.
At the security summit, MoD Defence Policy Director also urged to maintain and step assistance to Ukraine and invited countries to join the Capability Coalition for Demining led by Lithuania and Poland.
