“Lithuania and the United States share the view on cyber security threats, therefore it is important that we strengthen the cooperation and information exchange,” underscored Vice Minister of National Defence Margiris Abukevičius meeting with Deputy National Security Advisor, Cyber & Emerging Tech at National Security Council, Anne Neuberger and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy Mieke Eoyang.
During the visit to the United States of America this week, Vice Minister discussed concrete steps to be taken for developing bilateral Lithuanian-U.S. cooperation in the area of cyber security with the U.S. governmental cyber security officials.
The meeting officials discussed the efforts to strengthen the Regional Cyber Defence Centre established in Lithuania in the summer of 2021 – a platform for cyber security cooperation between Lithuania and the U.S. “The priority activity of the Regional Cyber Defence Centre is analysis of regional cyber threats, especially Ukraine, as of recently,” noted M. Abukevičius.
Other topics addressed were the possible steps of developing NATO’s cyber capabilities and the ways for Lithuania and the U.S. to consolidate practical cyber cooperation in NATO format. Opportunities for cooperation in scientific research development and on 5G technologies were also discussed.
