Lithuania, United Kingdom, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland will procure air defence capabilities to Ukraine for EUR 107.5 million, Lithuania‘s contribution amounts to EUR 6 million.
“Lithuania persistently comes up with ways to support Ukraine. The air capabilities provided by seven nations will support Ukraine’s ability to protect its critical infrastructure, civilian population and military personnel,” said Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas.
The air defence capability acquisition is the first of the five assistance packages planned in the second stage of acquisitions of the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU). Seven allied and partner nations have collected nearly EUR 608 million to the UK-managed IFU.
Combat and surveillance drones for Ukraine bought in the first stage of the IFU acquisition are currently manufactured and scheduled to be delivered to Ukraine later this summer.
“The IFU is an example of the cooperation among Allies strengthening Ukraine in a united fashion and fighting the barbaric Russian aggression,” said Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom Ben Wallace at the IFU contributor defence ministerial in Amsterdam Wednesday.
The IFU administrator United Kingdom has committed to transfer additional EUR 292 million to the fund shortly.
