On March 25, four United States soldiers and one tracked vehicle went missing during an exercise at a training area in Lithuania. At this time, there is no evidence or information confirming any casualties. A rescue operation, led by the Lithuanian Armed Forces, is intensively ongoing.
“We were deeply saddened to learn about the four U.S. soldiers currently missing in the Pabradė Training Area. The soldiers were conducting scheduled tactical training at the time of the incident. The search is being conducted by the U.S. Army and the Lithuanian Armed Forces, and efforts are underway. People are working around the clock, and everyone remains on standby, ready to provide emergency medical support. Please rest assured that we will continue our efforts tirelessly and keep you informed of any developments,” says Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė.
On 27 March Poland expressed assistance to and is sending to Lithuania a group of troops with heavy engineering equipment to help in the ongoing search and rescue operation.
