In the face of the flagrant violation by the Russian Federation of international law and the launch of military actions against Ukraine Participating Member States decided to activate the Cyber Rapid Response Teams (CRRT).
For the time being the physical deployment of the CRRT experts is postponed due to changed situation on the ground.
The CRRT Council, formed of all 6 participating EU Member States (Lithuania, Croatia, Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania), is closely monitoring the situation and assessing different options of support to Ukraine.
Cyber Rapid Response Teams and Mutual Assistance in Cyber Security (CRRT) is an EU Permanent Structured Cooperation (PECSO) project, led by Lithuania. The team itself is composed of 8-12 Cyber Security experts with different cyber expertise, delegated from all project Member states.
The Team is composed of different cyber expertise (such as incident response, forensics, vulnerability assessment, etc.) to be able to react to a variety of scenarios: different types of incidents as well as requests for pre-emptive activities, such as vulnerability assessments.
Lithuania is a lead Nation of the Project, responsible for its development, whereas the Rotating Participant is responsible for the operational activities of the CRRT. The role of the Rotating Participant for the year of 2022 is taken by Romania.
