On October 5 – 11 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states carried out 5 alert scrambles to identify and escort military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On October 5 NATO air policing fighter jets intercepted two SU-30 aircraft of the Russian Federation flying according to the route Kaliningrad – international airspace – mainland Russia. The aircraft did not have the flight plans, their onboard transponders were off, the crews were not keeping radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On October 8 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one SU-24 flying according to the route Kaliningrad –international airspace – Kaliningrad, its onboard transponder was off, the crew had no flight plan and did not maintain radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On October 9 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one AN-72 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad according to a pre-file flight plan, its onboard transponder was off, the crew was not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On October 10 NATO air policing fighter aircraft intercepted one NA-27 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad, the crew had a pre-filed flight plan, and maintained radio communication, the onboard transponder of the aircraft was off.
On October 10 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one SU-34 flying according to the route Kaliningrad – international airspace – mainland Russia, according to a prefilled flight plan, with its onboard transponder off, not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
