On July 27 – August 2 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states carried out seven alert scrambles to identify and escort military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On July 27 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states intercepted one IL-38 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad without the flight plan (it was submitted with a delay), its onboard transponder was off, and without maintaining radio communication with the Estonian regional air traffic control centre (maintained radio communication with the regional air traffic control centres in Latvia and Lithuania).
On July 28 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted two SU-27s flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad without the flight plans, without using their onboard transponders, not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre. They also intercepted one IL-38N flying according to a pre-filed flight plan, using its onboard transponder, not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On July 28 NATO air policing fighter aircraft intercepted two SU-27s flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad without the flight plans, not using their onboard transponders, not maintaining radio contact.
On July 29 NATO fighter jets intercepted two SU-30s flying from Kaliningrad to Kaliningrad, without the pre-filed flight plans, their onboard transponders off , without maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On July 30 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one SU-30 flying from Kaliningrad towards the Baltic Sea without the flight plan, without using the onboard transponder, and without maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On July the air policing fighter aircraft intercepted two SU-27s and one IL-38 flying from Kaliningrad headed for the Baltic Sea, without the flight plans, their onboard transponders off, not maintaining radio communication.
On July 30 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one SU-27 and one IL-38 heading from Kaliningrad towards the Baltic Sea, the crews had no flight plans, their onboard transponders were off, they did not maintaining radio communication.
