On February 18 the first Defence Attaché of the State of Israel to Lithuania David Israely was accredited to Lithuania at a ceremony at the Ministry of National Defence.
“We need to maintain the momentum in strengthening defence cooperation between our countries. Israel is a significant partner in defence acquisitions and an excellent example of effective readiness and national defence. We are interested in Israel’s experience of organization of mandatory conscription, enhancing resilience, arranging public readiness for defence and resistance,” said MoD Defence Policy Director Vaidotas Urbelis at the ceremony.
Lithuania and Israel are developing close cyber security and defence cooperation and collaborate on Armed Forces modernization projects. The strengthening cooperation between the countries will enable them to exchange lessons learned in such areas as universal conscription, reserve training, etc.
Before the current appointment, D. Israely served as Defence Attaché to Columbia, Peru, Panama, Guatemala and El Salvador.
The Defence Attaché of Israel is also appointed to Slovakia, Czech Republic and Latvia and is based in the Czech Republic.
