On May 16-17 Ministers of Defence of the three Baltic states will convene in Jekabpils, Latvia. Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas with Minister of Defence of Latvia Inara Mūrniece and Minister of Defence of Estonia Hanno Pevkuru will address preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius, as well as other topical regional security and defence issues.
Ministers are planned to discuss joint capability acquisitions and development, strengthening air defence and support to Ukraine.
The Baltic cooperation has been particularly intense on NATO Baltic air policing, maritime capabilities, joint exercises and officer training at the Baltic Defence College over the recent years.
The Baltic states also synchronize capability planning, coordinate joint procurement, organize joint exercises, training, seminars, and conduct cooperation between individual armed services.
