An independent and democratic state of Lithuania was re-established on 11 March 1990. Today we mark the 33rd anniversary of the solemn occasion with commemorative events attended by National Defence System leadership and military personnel.
The commemorative events will begin with a flower tribute at the March 11 “A Message” Monument in Independence Square by the House of the Seimas where later, at noon, the three Baltic states’ flag will be solemnly raised. It will be followed by a Path of Independence Restoration march down Gediminas Avenue that city residents and guests will be able to join alongside the Honor Guard Company and the Band of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and members of the Riflemen Union.
It will be a perfect occasion to try the new pedestrian route “Martial Vilnius”, it spans over 700 years of Lithuania’s and Vilnius’ history and honors the Lithuanian Hetmans, insurgents, guardsmen, volunteers, scouts nad partisans, men and women who defended liberty.
