On October 14-16 Vice Minister of National Defence Monika Koroliovienė conducted a visit to the United States and attended AUSA 2024 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C., the forum of such category in the U.S.
The event organized by the U.S. Army provides a platform for military equipment manufacturers to present the latest Western armament and innovation. 12 companies of Lithuania’s defence industry enjoyed the opportunity to meet world’s largest manufacturers and address potential cooperation.
Vice Minister M. Koroliovienė met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Defense Exports and Cooperation, Patrick Mason, Director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Michael Miller, and Gen. Allen J. Pepper is the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Security. Assistance Command (USASAC).
In the bilateral meetings Vice Minister presented the Lithuanian Armed Forces capability enhancement plans, conveyed gratitude for the strategic partnership, U.S. contribution to the security in the Baltic region and support to Ukraine.
M. Koroliovienė and representatives of the U.S. Government discussed the different procurement projects from the U.S: HIMARS, JLTV, Black Hawk, Javelin, AMRAAM, TPS-77, Harris communications, etc.
Vice Minister M. Koroliovienė also met with Brigadier General Yair Kulas, Director of the International Defence Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT), and had meetings with top executives of the largest U.S. and other nations’ defence industry companies: Northrop Grumman, RTX, Lockheed Martin, Harris Corporation, KNDS, Rheinmetall, BAE Systems, etc., where ongoing and future projects were discussed.
Vice Minister also met with Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology on the National Security Council Anne Neuberger to discuss the priorities in cyber security cooperation and Russia’s non-kinetic operations in Europe.
On the evening of October 16 Vice Minister delivered the opening address at an Atlantic Council discussion on “Strengthening Transatlantic Defense Industrial Cooperation: Focus on the Baltics”.
