December 2, Vice Minister of National Defence Vilius Semeška met with the newly appointed General Manager of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency Stacy Cummings and discussed the ongoing and future cooperation with the NSPA during a visit to Luxembourg.
“We have sent requests to the NATO Support and Procurement Agency to procure different goods and services for over 0.5 billion euros over the past three years. The agency remains our important partner that assists with the organisations of Lithuania’s defence procurement in the most efficient and economical way possible,” Vice Minister said at the meeting and congratulated the new General Manager.
According to Vice Minister, the NSPA-assisted infrastructure projects are the most important ones in the Lithuanian Armed Forces as they are designed to create together with the allies the military infrastructure that would be used for the needs of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and to ensure Host National Support to the allies whose persistent presence we seek.
Other topics addressed at the meeting were the concluding PzH2000 howitzer modernization programme and technical maintenance of the newly acquired modern systems. Small and medium-sized companies of Lithuania were pointed out as capable of providing high-quality products.
Vice Minister also urged the NSPA to support Lithuania’s important partner Ukraine. “Ukraine has our strong support in its strife to protect freedom and sovereignty. Therefore, we would like to invite the NSPA to assist Ukraine in conducting public procurement for strengthening its armed forces.”
The NSPA is the main public procurement platform of Lithuanian and other NATO allies’ defence institutions that completes procurement of different goods and services.
