The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has approved the proposal of the Ministry of National Defence to purchase the test batch of Merops AS-3 Surveyor“ (AS3/MEROPS) manufactured by Perennial Autonomy. The contract would cover training and system integration.
Merops AS-3 Surveyor is an air defence system for detection, tracking and neutralisation of uncrewed aerial systems and balloons. Its radars and sensors lock the target, the software identifies it and the interceptor aircraft neutralises the target. This system is quick and highly effective against small targets difficult to detect.
The test purchase will allow to assess system effectiveness and integration possibility in real-life conditions, and thus also motivate further decisions regarding strengthening the Lithuanian air defence that is compatible with the present architecture and NATO Allies.
AS3/MEROPS has been battle-tested in Ukraine.
