On July 31–August 1 Minister of National Defence conducts a visit to Moldova. He will meet with Minister of Defence of Moldova Anatolie Nosatii, as well as Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Speaker of the Parliament Igor Grosu bilaterally.
“A Europe-oriented, free, democratic and independent Republic of Moldova with a strong military is our national security interest,” said Minister of National Defence L. Kasčiūnas before departing.
Lithuania consistently supports Moldova’s military reforms and aids in strengthening military capability with expertise and best practices sharing. Minister will discuss security issues and defence matters during the visit while also highlighting the importance of continuity of the started Moldovan reforms.
Eastern Partnership, particularly Moldova, is important to Lithuania and the rest of Europe alike. The EU and NATO intensified and increased financial and material assistance to Moldova in the wake of the Russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine. In June 2024 the European Commission officially opened negotiations on Moldova’s EU accession.
Ministers of Defence of the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands have paid visit to Moldova over the course of July.
