On November 15, Brussels, Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas will attend a defence session of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on defence capabilities and EU international operations. Defence Ministers’ meeting in Brussels. Defence Ministers will aim to consolidate the cooperation of EU member states on investment in European defence.
The Russian aggression in Ukraine and the changing security situation in other parts of the world underlines the necessity for Europe to ensure its security and defence. The increase of defence budgets of EU member states presents an opportunity to invest in European security jointly. Member states have to do the planning, development and defence capability acquisitions together to provide credible security to the continent.
The Ministers will address possibilities of cooperation seeking to replenish the defence stocks resources and sustain the assistance to Ukraine, as well as bridging the requirement-capability gap in military missions and operations, strengthening the European defence technology and industrial base so that it has the capacity to meet these needs.
