The power generators Lithuania donates to Ukraine have arrived in the country successfully by means of railway. Transportation of the special cargo, the powerful generators with add-ons, from Lithuania to Ukraine was carried out by the freight transport company LTG Cargo of the Lietuvos Geležinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) with the Polish subsidiary LTG Cargo Polska. The transfer was organized by the Ministry of National Defence and paid from the resources of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
“The brave people of Ukraine are facing yet another challenge of freezing cold and darkness at this time. I sincerely thank to everyone who ensured transportation of the power generators from Lithuania to Ukraine. We want the Ukrainians to feel our support – Ukraine does not stand alone and it never will,” says Minister of Transportation Juras Taminskas.
Despite the challenges Lithuania was facing due to freezing weather, the transportation was implemented expeditiously, within less than 5 days from the initial submission till the final destination. Railway is particularly advantageous for transporting a large cargo, the power generators with add-ons in this case, safely and reliably in one piece.
“We are well aware that the generators are critical for the freezing Ukraine. Lithuania has been and will remain a reliable partner to Ukraine in all areas. Lithuania’s assistance in support of Ukraine’s needs will amount to at least 0.25 percent of GDP in 2026 providing urgent weaponry, ammunition donations, military training and other means,” says Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
According to CEO of the freight transport company LTG Cargo Eglė Šimė, the Polish subsidiary LTG Cargo Polska enables exactly such transfers. LTG Cargo has been a reliable partner ensuring arrival of NATO Allies to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia from Western Europe and back to home bases for nearly a decade.
“We are proud for having been able to contribute to the assistance to Ukraine whose energy and communication infrastructure is constantly ravaged by Russian aggression. We have availed of the experience of LTG Cargo activity in Poland and freight transportation projects to pick the route and rolling-stock that corresponded to the cargo, and carried out a tight collaboration with the Polish and Ukrainian partners,” says CEO of LTG Cargo E. Šimė.
The donated equipment was put and fastened in open wagons by LTG Infra (responsible for Lithuania’s railway network infrastructure) loading experts in freezing temperatures.
LTG Cargo is a company of the Lithuanian Railway Group currently undertaking active business developing in Western countries.
