On June 23 – 29 NATO Air Policing Detachment in the Baltic states was alerted to intercept aircraft of the Russian Federation violating international aviation regulations in international airspace over the Baltic Sea three times.
On June 25 the NATO Baltic Air Policing Detachment were scrambled to into international airspace to intercept one IL-18 bound for the Kaliningrad Oblast through international airspace that had taken off from mainland Russia. Its onboard transponder was switched on, the crew had a pre-filed flight plan and were maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On June 26 NATO fighter aircraft were scrambled to intercept one IL-20 and one SU24SM flying through international airspace with their onboard transponders off, without the flights plans and not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On June 26 NATO fighter jets intercepted one SU30SM flying in international airspace between out of and then back to Kaliningrad. Its onboard transponder was switched off, the crew had no flight plan pre-filed and was not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
