On February 12-13 Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė is conducting a visit to Brussels to attend the NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting. The Ukraine Defence Contact Group Ramstein format meeting will take place on the margins, as well as other bilateral and multilateral Minister’s meetings.
The key agenda points for the NATO Defence Ministerial concern the transatlantic relations, upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague, strengthening deterrence and defence, defence spending, security situation in and further assistance to Ukraine.
The Ramstein format meeting will be chaired by the United Kingdom and address Ukraine’s critical needs and strengthening regional security.
After that Minister will depart for Germany to take part in the Munich Security Conference on February 14-15. D. Šakalienė will meet with senior political, military and defence industry representatives, join separate sessions on the security of Lithuania and the whole region, collective defence, war in Ukraine, importance of strengthening defence industry, and more.
The Munich Security Conference is an annual highest level European forum event which bring together defence leaders to discuss the most relevant foreign and security policy challenges.
