Representatives of the National Defence Systems discussed weaponry acquisitions with U.S. officials at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA 2022) annual meeting and exposition in Washington on October 10 through 12. They had an agreement to sign contracts concerning procurement of strategic armaments – HIMARS artillery rocket systems, Switchblade drones, Joint Lights Tactical Vehicles (JLTV), by the end of the year.
“The U.S. has a very positive view of the significant investment increase Lithuania has made in its own and at the same time in NATO defence. Lithuania is taken as a reliable U.S. Ally, therefore we are on the priority list when it comes to intergovernmental armament acquisition contracts. Lithuania is also the firs country the U.S. is going to export the Switchblade 600 technology to,” Vice Minister of National Defence Vilius Semeška said after the meetings.
Meetings with representatives of the defence industry, Lockheed Martin, Oshkosh and AeroVironment enterprises, addressed procurement projects and delivery deadlines.
The United States is Lithuania’s strategic partner and one of the key Allies for the security of the Baltic region that actively contributes troops, equipment and funds to ensure regional security and defence. The U.S. is also one of Lithuania’s chief weaponry acquisition partners. Lithuania and the U.S. Government has contracts on acquisition of 200 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) and 4 Black Hawk helicopters.
