On June 20 – 26, fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled 6 times to patrol the Baltic airspace border with the Russian Federation and Belarus and to intercept military aircraft flying in violation of international aviation flight rules in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea.

Its onboard transponder was off, the crew had no pre-filed flight plan but was maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.

On June 24 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one EV97R flying in the airspace of Estonia from Pärnu to Rakvere its onboard transponder was off, no flight plan, the crew was not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic centre.
