This week the annual meeting of contributors to the Lithuanian-initiated and coordinated Cyber Rapid Response Teams (CRRTs) project took place via digital means marking the start of the 2022 rotation. Vice Minister of National Defense Margiris Abukevičius underscored that the developed cyber security project resulted in a capability that is recognized by the European Union cybersecurity community and can be used as an instrument to support Ukraine. Not only Belgium, observer in the project, has expressed a will to collaborate but also other EU members –the Czech Republic and Spain, as well as the United States of America and Lithuania’s partner Georgia.
“The Lithuanian-coordinated Cyber Rapid Response Teams and Mutual Assistance in Cybersecurity project is among the most successful and advanced PESCO projects. Putting it to action in support of European Common Security and Defence policy missions and operations, as well as of our partner Ukraine, would the trust in the new capability even more increase,” M. Abukevičius.
The current CRRT is formed by experts from all six project members – Lithuania, Poland, Netherlands, Romania, Croatia and Estonia. The original members will be joined by a new contributing country, Slovenia, this year. Representatives of Romania, the leading country of the rotation of 2022, presented annual activity plans at the meeting.
The CRRT project level of achievement and plans ahead were presented not only to project members, observers, but also to a significant network of partners representing European security and defence, cybersecurity authorities (EEAS, EUMS,EC, EDA, ENISA, CERT-EU), U.S. and Ukrainian partners and representatives of other cybersecurity projects developed in the EU cybersecurity space.
