On April 13–19, 2020, NATO fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled four times to identify and escort military aircraft of the Russian Federation in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On April 13 NATO air policing fighter aircraft intercepted one AN-26 flying from the mainland of the Russian Federation to Kaliningrad according to a pre-filed flight plan, its onboard transponder was off, the crew kept radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On April 15 aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states intercepted one AN-26 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad according to a flight plan, its onboard transponder off, maintaining radio communication.
On April 16 NATO fighter jets intercepted one TU-134 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia without the flight plan, with its onboard transponder switched on, maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On April 17 NATO fighter aircraft intercepted two SU-24, two SU-27, and two SU-30 flying from and to Kaliningrad without the flight plans, radio transponders off, without maintaining radio communication.
