Legal basis for military cooperation. An agreement on cooperation in the field of defense was signed in Singapore on 24 January 2022.
Military diplomatic representation. Lithuania is represented in the region by a defense advisor residing in Japan.
Bilateral military cooperation. The first contacts, in which it was agreed to strengthen bilateral dialogue, were established with Singapore in 2019.
The aim is to expand cooperation in the areas of strategic communication, cybersecurity, academic military cooperation, and global defense.
Representatives of the Ministry of National Defense have been regularly invited to participate in the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore since 2019. This highest-level annual meeting of defense ministers of Asia, Pacific, North America, and Europe provides an in-depth discussion of issues arising in the Indo-Pacific region and potentially affecting the architecture of global security.
