April 21, Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas attended the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Germany. Also known as the Ramstein Format, the meeting brings together Defence Ministers and military representatives of the nations that provide military support to Ukraine. At the already 11th meeting, Ukraine voiced its needs and the supporting nations discussed the possibilities for further assistance.
The so-called donor nations discussed the course of Russia’s war in Ukraine, presented their latest assistance packages and defence industry projects developed in assistance to Ukraine.
“Russia’s aggression has no moral boundaries. Russian soldiers treat Ukrainian prisoners of war as terrorists do. The severe battles for Ukraine continue. Our steadfast and unwavering support must continue as well,” said Minister A. Anušauskas at the Ramstein Format meeting.
The Ministry of National Defence has already delivered up to EUR 454 million worth military assistance to Ukraine. The military assistance transferred in 2023 includes military equipment and vehicles, military personnel training, medical treatment and rehabilitation and financial contributions to international funds.
A. Anušauskas also had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Defence of Sweden Pal Jonson in which the officials underscored the importance of Sweden’s becoming a member of NATO. Sweden was also invited to take part in the Baltic airspace defence initiatives.
