On October 2–8 NATO Air Policing Mission Detachment fighter aircraft were scrambled twice to intercept aircraft of the Russian Federation violating flight rules in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.
On October 3 aircraft of the NATO Air Policing Detachment were scrambled to intercept one IL20 flying from Kaliningrad and back via international airspace. The crew had no pre-filed flight plan, was not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre and did not keep the onboard transponder on.
On October 6 NATO Air Policing fighter aircraft identified and escorted one IL20 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia through international airspace. It had no pre-filed flight plan, the onboard transponder was switched off, though the crew was maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
