On February 11 through 13 Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas will attend the European Union Foreign Affairs Council (on Defence) and the NATO Defence Ministerial in Brussels. After that he will attend the Munich Security Conference.
On February 11 R. Kaunas will get together with the other EU Defence Ministers in Brussels to discuss increasing and accelerating assistance to Ukraine. They will be joined by the new Minister of Defence of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov. Ministers will look into the possibility of additional financing for Ukraine, address enhancement of the Ukraine-EU cooperation on defence industry and innovation, and discuss the EU security guarantees for Ukraine in the context of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).
On February 12 Minister of National Defence will be present at the NATO Defence Ministerial on strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence, the upcoming NATO Summit in Ankara and ensuring long-term assistance to Ukraine. Also, a working lunch of the NATO-Ukraine Council and the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting will take place.
Following the meetings in Brussels, Minister R. Kaunas will proceed to Munich to attend the Munich Security Conference on February 13–15. It is one on the leading global international security policy forums attended by dozens of heads of state and government, foreign and defence ministers and top decisions makers from across NATO, EU and other organisations.
