National Defence Minister to attend meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence


On 27 June National Defence Minister Linas Linkevičius will attend a meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence, which will be held in Istanbul.


On the eve of NATO Summit Meeting of Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Defence will discuss implementation of Prague Capabilities Commitment concerning development of military forces, rapid reaction force; NATO operations are also expected to be addressed at the meeting.


Lithuania has declared a joint package of military units to participate in NATO or European Union capabilities. This will include an infantry battalion group, detachment of special force, explosive destruction unit, water cleaning, service of cargoes carried by railway, units of fuel transportation, movement control group, mine hunter ship.


On 28-29 June National Defence Minister, Linas Linkevičius, and Commander of the Armed Forces, Major General Jonas Kronkaitis, as part of the Lithuanian delegation, headed by Acting President Artūras Paulaskas will take part in NATO Istanbul Summit.
