Vice Minister of National Defence E. Kerza and representatives of EU and NATO institutions discussed cyber security


On April 25-26 Vice Minister of National Defence Edvinas Kerza discussed cyber security with representatives of the European Union at the invitation of Vice President of the European Commission Andrus Ansip, and took part in discussions with representatives of NATO institutions.


At a meeting with Director for the Security Policy and Conflict Prevention (SecPol) in the European External Action Service Pawel Herczynski and Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission Khalil Rouhana Vice Minister E. Kerza discussed possible new solutions in the context of cyber threats such as Diplomatic toolbox, review and update of the EU strategy in line with current challenges, and generation of means of information/communication. “It is great to see real change both in the approach and in concrete solutions,” Vice Minister of National Defence says.


At a high-level session of the European Commission on cyber security Vice Minister E.Kerza underscored the necessity to present the threats and challenges all the countries were facing in a clear and public manner, as well as to strengthen cooperation both, among the members of the organisation and with other international organisations.


While in Brussels, E. Kerza also met with Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges and Chairman of the NATO Cyber Defence Committee Sorin Ducaru. The meeting officials discussed cyber security topicalities in the Alliance, enhancement of NATO and its allies’ capabilities in cyberspace, and Lithuanian-NATO cyber defence cooperation.
