The fourth edition of the NATO air exercise series RAMSTEIN ALLOY is going to take place in Baltic airspace, mainly over Lithuania on April 25 and 26. RAMSTEIN ALLOY 4 serves to exercise Baltic Air Policing alert aircraft as well as to enhance relations and interoperability amongst allied Air Forces.

On April 18 Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas paid a working visit to the United States Central Command and the United States Special Operations Command to meet with Commander USCENTCOM General Joseph Votel, Commander USSOCOM General Raymond A. Vice Minister of National Defence Giedrimas Jeglinskas met with representatives of the Cabinet Office of the UK Dr Stuart Wainwright and Dr Owen Jackson responsible for national and international resilience.

 

The guests were interested in crisis management system in Lithuania, information and cyber security, and lessons learned after the information provocations against the NATO battalion troops.

On April 13 Minister of National Defence Raimunndas Karoblis concluded the visit in Afghanistan. During the visit the Lithuanian delegation met with the leadership of the NATO mission in Afghanistan Resolute Support, Lithuanian soldiers serving as part of it, visited the Train Advise Assist Command – West (TAAC – West) in Herat.

On April 11 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis visited Tbilisi and met with Minister of Defence of Georgia Levan Izoria. Following a brief formal meeting the Ministers signed a joint statement declaring mutual support of the countries and defence cooperation: through joint exercises and training, partnership with NATO, and facilitation of further Georgia’s defence reform.

April 13, Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis flew into Afghanistan where he will meet with the leadership of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission and Lithuanian military personnel serving in Kabul and Herat. The Minister’s delegation includes Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras, and representatives of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of National Defence, and the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Today, April 11, Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis and a delegation will conduct a visit in Tbilisi, Georgia, and meet with Minister of Defence of Georgia Levan Izoria. The Minister swill address topical aspects of the security situation in the Baltic and South Caucasian regions, the progress of reform of the countries’ armed forces, prospects of bilateral cooperation and participation in multinational operations. After the meeting the Ministers will sign a joint statement on cooperation.

On April 10 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis and Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas discussed global security situation, the recent events and agreed on the need to smoothly implement the decisions of the Warsaw Summit at a meeting with their counterparts of the Netherlands, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert and General Tom Middendorp, in Vilnius.
