On February 7 Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas met with State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Victor Dolidze who is on a visit in Lithuania. The officials discussed priorities and ambitions of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the expectations expressed regarding the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels this November, agendas of NATO meetings, security situations in South Caucasus and the Baltic Sea region.

On February 7 President of the Republic of Lithuania HE Dalia Grybauskaitė welcomed the first troops of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battalion battle group upon their deployment in Lithuania. The deployment of NATO eFP battalion in Lithuania follows an agreement by NATO allies to strengthen deterrence and collective defence in the Baltic region.

On February 7 President of the Republic of Lithuania HE Dalia Grybauskaitė will welcome the first troops of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battalion battle group and allied rotational force upon their deployment in Lithuania.

 

A part of eFP troops from Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands already in Lithuania will line up for a formal welcome ceremony at the Lithuanian Great Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment. They will also be joined by the U.S. and Czech rotational troops deployed for training period in Lithuania, and soldiers representing different units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

On February 6–10 the Hue City (CG 66) of the U.S. Navy is conducting a friendly visit to Klaipėda Seaport.

 

The visit by the guided-missile cruiser USS Hue City in Klaipėda demonstrates the unwavering U.S. efforts to strengthen relations with NATO allies and regional partners as they work for the shared goal of ensuring peace and stability in the region.

On February 7 Lithuanian military instructors team begin service in the U.S.-led Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF–OIR) in Iraq. The group of six Lithuanians is assigned to the Danish Contingent, also including troops from Latvia and Estonia.
