On July 22 through 26 the Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School will for the first time be organizing Parachuting School Challenge (Fr. Challenge Inter-Ecoles de Parachutisme, CIEP) competition and School Commanders’ Symposium.

The Parachuting School Challenge 2013 (CIEP 2013 Lithuania) competition will pull together approx. 60 participants from Belgium, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, France and Germany who will compete in shooting, orienteering, swimming in battledress uniform, static-line and free fall accuracy jump events in a variety of locations of Lithuania - Kaunas, Trakai, Kazlų Ruda, Šeduva and Prienai District.

The School Commanders’ Symposium will provide an opportunity to become acquainted with innovations in parachuting equipment and training as well as to exchange experience.

Lithuanian military parachuting specialists have been participating in CIEP events since 2006. For three years in a row Lithuania’s military representatives won prize positions and first positions in static-line events. In 2012 team of the Parachute Training Centre of the Lithuanian Armed Forces School won gold in France in shooting event and five bronze medals in team events.

During CIEP 2012 France Lithuania received a proposal to host the 34th event the following year. The Parachuting School Challenge dates back to 1980 organized annually by another European country.

The Parachute Training Centre of the Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School trains parachutists for the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Military personnel are taught forced opening parachute jumps or tactical static-line and free-fall jumps. Each staff instructor at the Centre has an estimable experience of approx. several thousands of jumps. Staff of the Centre with appropriate professional expertise also provide the obligatory technical maintenance, mounting and repair of the parachute stock of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and attend local and international parachuting competitions. Experience gathered and high sports results testify to the high training level of the Lithuanian parachutists. Lithuanian military parachutists have claimed gold three times, and bronze and silver - seven times in CIEP events since 1991. Participants of two World Air Games and over 13 World Championships and World Cups, today military staff instructors of the Parachute Training Centre of the Lithuanian Armed Forces School form the basis of the Lithuanian National Skydiving Sports Team. Commander of the Parachute Training Centre Major Audrius Miečius can deservedly take pride in the second best result in Lithuania of the experience of over 7,000 parachute jumps.
