Commander Ground Force of Ukraine visit Lithuania


Commander-in-Chief of the Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Col. Gen. Ivan Svyda with delegation will be visiting Lithuania at invitation of Lithuanian Commander Land Force Brig. Gen. Jonas Vytautas Zukas, December 15-19.


On December 16 the guest will meet with command of Lithuanian Land Force, familiarise with activities of the Land Force Staff, structure of service and tasks, visit National Defence Volunteer Force Museum.


On December 17 Col. Gen. Svyda will meet with Lithuanian Chief of Defence Lt. Gen. Valdas Tutkus and other high Lithuanian officers. Later the delegation will go to Rukla to visit staff of the MIB Iron Wolf, battalions deployed in Rukla, and to see armaments and military equipment.


Currently Ukraine maintains armed forces of over 200 thousand members, 15 thousand of them conscripts. Transition to armed forces based on professional war service is planned to take place before 2015.
