Commandants change of command ceremony at the Baltic Defence College


Solemn change of command ceremony of the Baltic Defence College (BDC) Commandant will take place on December 14 in Tartu (Estonia). Lithuanian Officer Brigadier General Algis Vaiceliunas will be replaced by a Latvian Brigadier General Gundars Abols after three years in office.

State Secretary of the Lithuanian Defence Ministry Jurate Raguckiene, Commander of Armed Forces General Lieutenant Valdas Tutkus, top-ranking officials from Latvian and Estonian Defence Ministries and Commanders of national armed forces, and other high ranking guests from abroad will attend the ceremony.

Baltic Defence College Commandants rotate on the three years basis.

Language of studies at the Baltic Defence College is English, NATO procedures and standards are applied. One of the main goals of BDC is integration of NATO and the EU military preparation systems into BDC. Graduates of the College are ready to work in defence ministries of their countries, national armed forces and international staffs, work as defence attaches, and give lectures at the national military academies.
