Following the order of Regional Commander West commanders of subordinate PRT's have to visit their counterparts and familiarise with their structure, activity and activity priorities, decision-making procedures, process of provincial development, and security situation. Such practise is meant to stimulate cooperation of separate PRTs and experience transfer. Regional Command West has four subordinate provincial reconstruction teams – of Ghowr, Farah, Badghis, and Herat.

Col. Dalius Polekauskas, Commander of the Ghowr PRT (PRT-5), finished his formal visit to Farah province on June 29. PRT of the province is lead by the USA. Province Farah shares borders with the Ghowr province and is subordinate to Regional Command West. Visit of Col. D. Polekauskas lasted from June 26 to 28.

PRT-5 Commander Col. D. Polekauskas and Commander of Farah PRT Comdr. F. E. Hughlett discussed visions of provincial development and processes of their implementation along with security issues. All the twenty provincial reconstruction teams have common goal and tasks, i.e. enhancement of security sector, development of authority capabilities, and preparation of administrative abilities. Quality and duration of provincial development projects’ fulfilment depends on the PRT funding and volume of non-governmental organisations' activity.

Col. D.Polekauskas and Comdr. F. E. Hughlett went on a trip around several settlements during the visit: they talked to local people, visited the hospital built in Khormalek village on USA funding and the new buildings for children's home in Farah City.

Commander of Farah PRT plans to visit the Ghowr province in the beginning of July.
