Lithuanian Land Force Commander to visit Lithuanian troops deployed to Iraq


On Monday, 30 May Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force, Brigadier General Arvydas Pocius will be in Iraq, where he is to visit Lithuanian troops deployed to serve  as part of the Polish-led multinational division there.

While in Iraq, the Lithuanian Land Force Commander is scheduled to visit troops of the Lithuanian Detachment, LITDET-4, deployed to the coalition force base-camp, stationed at the city of Al-Hillah in the Province of Babylon and meet with Lithuanian military officers serving their appointments at various multinational commands in Iraq. Brigadier General Pocius is also scheduled to meet with Commander of the Multinational Division, Major General W. Skrzypczak, Commander of the Multinational Brigade, Brigadier General P. Lamla, and Commander of the Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel P. Zabkowski. During the meetings, the Lithuanian Land Force Commander will be briefed on the current situation in Iraq.

During his meeting with Lithuanian troops, Brigadier General Pocius will award the most distinguished Lithuanian military personnel and will hand traditional Lithuanian food to all Lithuanian troops serving in Iraq

At the moment, some 120 Lithuanian troops serve in Iraq.
