Two more fighters to join the Baltic air-policing mission in Lithuania

On Sunday, 31 October two more Tornado F3 fighters of the British Royal Air Force will land at the Zokniai-based airport to join the NATO air-policing mission in the Baltic States.

The first two British fighters came in Zokniai on 14 October when the mission was taken over from Danish fighters F-16.

Approximately100 British military and aircraft support personnel including navigation and communications specialists, medics, military police and fire officers are deployed in Zokniai.

The British Royal Force personnel will guard the Baltic airspace until January 2005. Later they will be replaced by military personnel of another country of NATO.
