National Defence Minister met in Peking with Chinese Vice-Prime Minister Zeng Peiyan

On Tuesday, 31 August Lithuanian National Defence, Minister Linas Linkevičius, who is currently with an official in China, met with Chinese Vice-Prime, Minister Zeng Peiyan, and Defence Minister, General Cao Gangchuan.


At the meeting the officials exchanged opinions about bilateral co-operation, and underlined the progress of bilateral ties in a positive direction. L. Linkevičius pointed out that Lithuania now represented the European Union and NATO and proposed to continue further dialog on bilateral and organisational level.


"In today's world we need to take an active part in the ongoing processes, therefore, open discussions and exchange in information will contribute to the effectiveness of actions, " said Minister L. Linkevičius.

National Defence Minister to pay an official visit to China

On Sunday, 29 August, Lithuanian National Defence Minister, Linas Linkevičius, leaves for an official visit to China. This will be the first Lithuanian National Defence Minister's visit to China.


During the visit, the National Defence Minister Linkevičius will be accompanied by the Ministry's State Secretary, Valdemaras Sarapinas, Ministry's Undersecretary, Jūratė Raguckienė, and Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force, Brigadier General Arvydas Pocius.


According to the visit agenda, L. Linkevičius and him accompanying delegation will meet with the Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan. The visit agenda also includes Linkevičius' meeting with the Chinese Minister of Defence, Cao Gangchuan.
