Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Brig. Gen. J. Žukas is invited to the NATO Headquarters change of command ceremony

On May 5 Commander Lithuanian Land Force Brig. Gen. Jonas Vytautas Žukas will take part in a change of command ceremony of Headquarters Allied Force Command Heidelberg (HQ FC Heidelberg). Lithuanian Commander will  participate in the ceremony by invitation of Gen. Egon Ramms, Commander Joint Force Command Brunssum.

 

The present Commander of Headquarters Allied Force Command Heidelberg Lt. Gen. Roland Kather (German Armed Forces) has held the position since October 2007.

 

Headquarters Allied Force Command Heidelberg is a NATO Headquarters employing around 450 civilian and military personnel from 20 NATO member states and three NATO's Partnership for Peace partner states. The Headquarters formerly known as Allied Land Component Command HQ Heidelberg has a different mission reflected in its new nameas of the beginning of this year.

 

Headquarters Allied Force Command Heidelberg provides training for Deployable Joint Staff Elements (DJSE) before duty in higher-level NATO headquarters, conducts planning of the full-spectrum military operations, concentrates on all the functional tasks of land force related to both NATO command and structure of allied forces, and completes other tasks mandated by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).
