Rotational troops from Belgium deployed in Lithuania for a month-long training


On October 1 rotational force from Belgium deployed in Lithuania via Klaipėda Seaport and Palanga Airport. Roughly 350 soldiers and over 100 military vehicles will train in joint Exercise Baltic Piranha 2016 alongside Lithuanian troops.


The Belgian rotational force formed by the Belgian Medium Brigade 1/3 Bataillon de Lanciers will be training to complete joint military operations with Lithuanian and allied troops nearly throughout the territory of Lithuania.


In Exercise Baltic Piranha 2016, the Belgian soldiers will act alongside troops from the Lithuanian Grand Duke Kęstutis Motorised Infantry Battalion, 5th Territorial Unit of the National Defence Volunteer Force, and the 173rd Airborne Brigade (U.S. rotational force) against the opposing force played by a group of soldiers from the Grand Duchess Birutė Uhlan Battalion, Juozas Vitkus Engineer Battalion, and Non-kinetic Operations Company of the National Defence Volunteer Force.
