M577 command and control armoured personnel carriers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces upgraded

German enterprise FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH won the call to tender organised by the NATO Support Agency (NSPA)  and upgraded 22  M577 armoured personnel carriers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The upgraded M577s will be used for command and control of the PzH2000 howitzers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

As infrastructure at the Gen S.Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė is further improved, the multifunctional firing range will be completed – the Ministry of National Defence plans procuring mobile target lifting system for training tank and armoured equipment live fire while in maneuver. On November 23 Vice Minister of National Defence Giedrimas Jeglinskas and Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defence Dr Peter Tauber signed an agreement on funding that procurement.

On November 19 – 25 NATO fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled five times to identify and escort military aircraft of the Russian Federation in international airspace over the Baltic Sea.

On November 24 Poland officially joined the European Union Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) Cyber Rapid Response Teams Initiative launched by Lithuania. The Declaration of Intent was signed by Minister of National Defence of Poland Mariusz Błaszczak on a visit in Vilnius.

Joint Communique

On November 24 a solemn formation and military equipment parade concluded the celebration marking the centenary of the re-established Lithuanian Armed Forces. The military parade put on display nearly 2.000 soldiers marching or driving military vehicles and can be called the largest military event in the history of independent Lithuania.

On November 22 new Defence Attaché of Slovakia in Lithuania Colonel Vladimir Šedivy was accredited at a ceremony at the Ministry of National Defence. The new Defence Attaché was welcomed by Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas.
