Lithuania takes part in NATO crisis management exercise


On October 4-11 Lithuania is for the ninth time training in NATO’s Crisis Management Exercise 2017 (CMX17), an event designed to test strategic political and military level consultations and decision-making procedures between allies and partners amidst a simulated crisis.


The exercise trains the NATO Headquarters and institutions of capital cities of NATO allies, also, civilian and military personnel of both strategic commands. It is an Article 4 and Article 5 exercise which is of relevance to the Alliance, the training event is held with regard to the decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Warsaw.


CMX17 scenario is fictitious but realistic and includes elements of hybrid warfare.


In parallel with that an exercise with the European Union will be held to enhance the coordination of NATO-EU crisis response.
